Try Something New

My name is Fran Long and I will be writing the exercise section on this website.

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in October 2008 after a year of investigation which began when I had so much pain in my legs I was walking with two sticks. At this time I was in training for my third Dan black belt in Karate. The fatigue and pain were so severe that I finally visited my GP.

I received first class support from him and was able to take and pass my grading although I was dosed up on pain killers just to get through it.

I still run a Karate class once a week and exercise as much as my fibro will allow. Of course I have bad days as well as good, but I have learnt to pace myself and I know that the exercise I do helps me to cope with everyday life as a fibromite.

I couldn’t live a life without fresh air and exercise!
